Re-Venture club transforms footbridge

Dimapur, October 5 (MExN): The Re-Venture Club, which was launched on October 2 at Patkai footbridge, undertook a voluntary social action at the launching place by cleaning and painting the long stretch of the footbridge with eco-friendly colours.  

The Club was launched on the commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday as the members believe in peace, love and development but not in violence and hatred, the Club Media Cell stated in a press note. The work was undertaken after taking due permission from the EAC cum Administrator of Chumukedima town Thejavizo Nakro .  

The founding members also contributed in cash in kind to meet the expenses of the social action.  

According to the club, the core committee members decision to conduct social action at a public bridge, which served the commuters a safe passage during swollen river of Chathe during the monsoon season, as it was completely neglected.  

The sole motive was to cultivate dignity of labour amongst members by self painting, to create a sense of belonging/ownership and civic sense to the public, it said.  

The core committee also appealed every citizens who uses, passes or hangout at the bridge to maintain cleanliness and not to litter it with bottles, wrappers etc.  

“The club will be coming up with its proper office address shortly and will be inviting like-minded people to come together and work together to bring changes in the society,” it further informed.  

The club said that it will also partner with Govt Dept. NGOs, CSOs or anyone who is willing to lead the society to a better arena.
