280 people availed free medical camp
 
Dimapur, February 14 (MExN):
16 Assam Rifles under HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles of IGAR (North) conducted a free medical and dental camp at Khonoma village and Mezoma village on January 8. Approximately, 280 people availed free medical services and medicines. A team comprising of doctor and dentist along with paramedical staff conducted the camp in which free health check-up and medicines were provided. Doctor & staff from Naga Hospital and Public Health Centre also joined hands in this humanitarian cause of reaching out to the local people. This was informed in a press note issued by the Assam Rifles.

Blood donation camp on Feb 26

Dimapur, February 14 (MExN):
The Youngs' Club Dimapur is organising a blood donation camp under the Theme 'Your Blood, Others Life' on February 26 at civil hospital Dimapur starting from 10:00 am.  Any individual especially the youth willing to donate a drop of life can kindly contact camp coordinator Antsho 8014060860 and Vikapu awomi, informed a press note.

Medical Camp conducted at Aboi

Dimapur, February 14 (MExN):
The 1 Assam Rifles conducted a free medical camp at Aboi town on February 3 under aegis of Headquarters 7 Sector Assam Rifles. A team comprising of two Doctors and medical staff conducted the camp. A total of 589 patients including ladies and children received free medical treatment & free medicines. The camp was conducted from early morning till evening to attend to the patients who had come from many villages.

NSCN (K) cadre killed in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, FEBRUARY 14 (PTI): A NSCN (K) cadre was killed in a factional feud with its rival NSCN (IM) group in Tirap district, Assam Rifles sources said today. NSCN (K) cadre Palai Wangsa, a native of Longphong village, was killed in a fierce gunbattle between cadres of the rival faction of the NSCN yesterday, the sources said. During the clash a, bomb blast was also reported to have completely destroyed a bamboo plantation at Konsa village, the sources said, adding security has been beefed up in the area and combing operations are on to flush out the underground outfits. An intermittent gun battle for area dominance between both factions of the Naga rebel group has been going on in the district since December last year.

Three arms dealers arrested

Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): On February 11, 2011 troops of 164 TA (Naga) while conducting MVCP at Ura Villa Colony arrested three persons traveling in a Maruti Van bearing regd No AS03G-798. The personnel seized from their possession on AK-56 Rifle with magazine, one SLR bearing No. 10050015 with magazine 60 live rounds of 7.62 mm, and cash amounting to Rs. 2070.
A press note issued by the Additional Superintend of Police/PRO Dimapur informed that the accused have been identified as Merennokdang (49 years) from Khensa village, Mokokchung , Bendang Longkumer (58 years) Chungtia village, Mokokchung, Saidul Rehman, Makhegaon village, Nagaon Assam.

Missing auto driver found murdered

Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): The driver of an autorickshaw bearing R/No NL07-4237 which went missing since the night of February 12, 2011 along with the vehicle was found murdered the next morning on February 13 from Xelhoshe village, Niuland.
A press note issued by the Additional Superintend of Police/PRO, Dimapur informed that the deceased victim indentified as Pradeep Singh from Bhagalpur, Bihar, temporarily residing at Ura villa colony behind Circuit house, Dimapur, was found murdered by the villagers who informed the police about the dead body. On conducting inquest, it was ascertained that the victim has been strangulated and stabbed with a sharp weapon on the abdomen. Police have registered a case of murder and investigation is on to nab the unknown killer(s) and also to recover the missing autorickshaw.

One arrested with arms

Dimapur, February 14 (MExN):
On February 12, 2011, troops of 24 Assam Rifles while conducting MVCP at Nagarjan intercepted one bolero bearing Regd. No. NL01C-7909 and recovered one.22 pistol with two live rounds from the vehicle. The occupant of the vehicle Takutoshi (29years) of Pongo village, Longleng was arrested and a case has been registered in this connection. This was informed in a press note issued by additional superintend of police/PRO, Dimapur.

NSCN-(IM) bans hunting, burning

Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): NSCN (IM) “Chakhesang Region” central administrative officer Vepupe Duolo has informed that as per the directive of the ministry of kilo-affairs, all indiscriminate burning of jungles and use of chemicals (organic/processed) in rivers/streams would be strictly banned throughout Chakhesang Soil. The CAO stated, this was to preserve the flora, fauna and aquatic biodiversities and strongly warned that violators would be sternly dealt with befitting punishment.
The statement also cautioned against movement of any individual, group or society with hunting materials of any kind, stating that action would be taken against defaulters and materials would be seized. In this regard, Vepupe Duolo, CAO, Chakhesang region sought the co-operation of all VCCs and its units to keep close vigil and have regular contact with the concerned authority to exercise the ban more effectively.

NCP (Mahila) expresses hope in Neiba Ndang

Dimapur, February 14 (MExN):
The Nationalist Congress Party (Mahila) in a press release expressed hope that under the Presidentship of Neiba Ndang, the party would be strengthened not only in Nagaland but also in the neighbouring states.
NCP (Mahila) president, N. Alemla Jamir has also urged the central leaders to give necessary support so as to enable the party works to work unitedly for the welfare of the party in particular and the people of Nagaland in general.
