Regional seminar on children’s parliament meet concludes

Dimapur, August 27 (MExN): Three days regional seminar on children’s parliament was conducted at Aida Complex organized by Nagaland Development Outreach from August 23 to 25.


Director of Holistic Child Development India, Thomas Rajkumar in his speech encouraged the children Parliament to develop Leadership qualities and take the platform to address Child rights issues and child protection. 


Speaking on the importance of children’s decision, he said that, Children have the caliber to influence on the community decision and even up to the extent for good governance. He also mentioned about the formation of Children Parliament and how it started in Andaman island by citing many good example of CP stories from different region such as, the story of Andaman CP, on how they were able to influence the district collector office and bring in the basics facilities like electricity, water supply etc and how toilets were build in Khandwa under the influence of CP Children.


A press release from Aosen, Project Incharge, HCDI stated that altogether 35 children from the states of Assam and Nagaland participated in the seminar where they were taught on Leadership Skills, Child Rights and Protection and Child Help Line. Through presentation, children also shared their concerns on prevailing issues and how to solve the problem on domestic child labour, online gaming, improper functioning of government school and aganwadi centre (ICDS), and discipline in maintaining study hours, alcoholism and tobacco among the youngsters.


The programme ended with action taken by the children parliament on what children parliament can do to stop child violation in their local area.


The programme was attended by NDO Board Chairman Major Dr Mukhavi, Loza Kape, Prodigals Home, Vikhuli from DAN, Magdali HCDI and blessing from Rev. C. Amop Noklang, Director, NDO.
