Dimapur, March 30 (MExN): The Naga children who had been rescued from illegal shelter homes in Jaipur on March 12 are likely to be repatriated on April 1 and not March 30 as expected earlier. The Delhi Resident Commissioner informed that all legal formalities required for the children to be released from Jaipur have been completed, but tomorrow being a holiday, he and the officials from Nagaland can travel to Jaipur only on Monday to pick the children up. The delay has also been attributed to several state holidays in Rajasthan.
According to a report in The Indian Express, two girls among the 51 rescued children revealed during counseling sessions that they had been sexually assaulted by owner of the homes. One girl alleged molestation and another alleged rape. “Medical tests of all the children have been done and gynecological tests have been done for the two girls who have alleged rape and molestation,” Lata Singh, state coordinator of FXB India Suraksha told Indian Express. The owner Jacob John has been in judicial custody since his arrest following the raids.
