
Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): The 12 Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Youth Wing (CYW) office bearers today clarified on their resignation and subsequent merger with NDPP (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party).
“Our resignation from NPF was purely executed on our own volition in sound mind with clear conscience, after having lost our trust in the collective leadership of the party,” a press statement from Kumtsumong JK, Former General Secretary NPF CYW on behalf of 12 resigned members stated.
“Therefore our merger with party should not be misconstrued as political adventurism nor pursuance of our personal interest or ambitions.”
The 12 former functionaries of the NPF further held that they have been "diehard loyalist" of the party through thick, thin for many years, and “have contributed immensely for the growth of NPF from strength to strength.”
It claimed that they endured many hardship and humiliation “though we were dragged like chained puppies. However, endurance and perseverance had been completely ignored by the party's higher hierarch,” it alleged.
“Time and again, we the youth wing, as the soldier of the party had made so many suggestion to revamp and re-strengthen the party, so that the broken home of the NPF party can be rebuilt and stand firm and tall however, all these well meaningful suggestions were ignored in total contrast to our good intention, and we were branded sideline by the party higher ups.”
“Considering the present situation, we the NPF party men and women have become like a sheep without shepherd because of the differences and heavy politicking within the NPF family. However, no leader of the party has attempted so far to keep the party folks intact and instill a sense of confidence,” it added.
It regretted that in spite of many crisis, “the people at the helms of affairs seems to have loss directions and become visionless.”
“They want to steer the party in their own interest and direction, thereby the party has come to a complete stand still in the course of its journey and is about to sink,” it held.
In view of such facts, the former NPF youth members considered themselves “fortunate to leave the sinking ship in time…to save ourselves from been drowned.”
Further stating the “well known fact” of the NPF party under the leadership of Niephiu Rio, the former members held belief that they “once again under his able leadership” will allow them to complete their “political voyage smoothly,” decided to join the NDPP led by President Chingwang Konyak.
