Resolve Naga political issue, SAH appeals

Pughoboto, August 8 (MExN): The Sümi Aphuyemi Hoho (SAH) has appealed to the Indian authorities to urgently resolve the Naga issue which it said “is lingering for too long.”

The resolution of the Naga issue will benefit other Indian states, but when the Naga issue is prolonged, the peaceful atmosphere of others too will be affected, the Hoho pointed out.

Stating that the Nagas are not bargaining for what is alien to them but only demanding its birth right, the Hoho appealed to the Indian leadership to “accept and acknowledge it at the earliest for peaceful co-existence.”

The SAH also expressed gratitude to the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) for extending its solidarity to the Nagas in the international platform.

In the recently concluded XV General Assembly (GA) of the UNPO held in Washington DC from July 31 to August 2, the UNPO had resolved to "Support a peaceful resolution of the Indo-Naga issue which is just, long lasting, honorable and acceptable to both the sides" and called on the International community to appeal to India to fulfill its commitments in the Framework Agreement on the Indio- Naga issues, and urged India to repeal the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act and the Disturbed Area Act.
