Minister for urban development and higher & technical education, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, today advised the Nagas in general and the Angamis and the people of Kohima Village in particular to carefully systematise the education of their children in line with today’s competitive world and bring them up in such a manner where they can be equipped with sufficient skills and knowledge to compete with the rest of the world in this extremely competitive age.

Exhorting the Kohima Village Gazetted Officers’ Association at its general conference-cum-felicitation held at the village council hall here today, the senior minister and scholar also called for positive attitude and broadmindedness among the officers and stressed on the need to have more cooperation and consultation among fellow officers. He advised them not to work for themselves but for the community.

Also, speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr. Nicky Kire lamented that respect for each other was lacking among the officers and said there is a need to maintain an order of precedence. He also strongly suggested that all the primary schools in the four khels of Kohima Village use English as the medium of instruction instead of Tenyidie while also advising that vocational training be given equal importance.

Nagaland DGP, K Kire, who was also felicitated on the occasion, made an appeal to the people of Kohima to weed out anti-social elements by extending cooperation with the law-enforcing authorities. He asked the people to provide necessary information as and when required, assuring that the identities of the informers will be kept secret and that protection would also be given if required. Earlier in his welcome speech, KVGOA president, Dr. Viketoulie Pienyü, also stressed on the need for unity among the four khels of Kohima Village, asserting that Kohima Village is more important than the four khels.

Meanwhile, it has been informed that a consultative meeting of all the organisations under Kohima Village will be held on May 30 at 10 am at the village council hall to discuss and deliberate on matters relating to Kohima Village.
