Zunehboto/Mon, January 25 (DIPR): To ensure free and fair election in the forthcoming general elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and in pursuance to the directives of the government issued vide Home Department notification No.POL/ARMS/2014 dated Kohima the 22nd December, 2017 the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Zunheboto, Tridibesh Roy, IAS, has directed all the arms license holders in Zunheboto district to deposit their arms at the nearest Police Station against proper receipt for such deposit(s) on or before one week from the last date of withdrawal of candidature, i.e., on or before February 5, 2018.
All the fire arms deposited as per the order are to be kept in safe custody at the respective Police Stations till one week after the declaration of the result or till the election process is over, whichever is later.
The order has further prohibited carrying of licensed arms/weapons within the jurisdiction of Zunheboto district for any purpose other than for the purpose of verification/deposit of the arms or for uploading in the NDAL database.
Daily report on the deposit/seizure of arms/weapons should be submitted to the office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate by the respective officer-in-charge of the Police Stations by any available means of communication.
Failure to comply with the directives issued herein will lead to cancellation of the arms license(s) or any appropriate penal action as per the rules in force.
DC & DEO Mon notifies
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Mon, Thavaseelan K (IAS) has notified to all concerned, particularly the political parties, candidates and party workers, that cash exceeding Rs. 50,000/- found in a vehicle carrying a candidate, his agent or party workers or carrying posters or election materials or any drugs, liquor, arms or gift items which are valued at more than Rs. 10,000/- likely to be used for inducement of electors shall be subject to seizure. The DC further informed members of the public carrying any amount in cash exceeding Rs. 50,000/- should always keep some relevant documents with them to substantiate the source and purpose of the money.
