Retrospection on Naga Reconciliation & its implication

I am urged and convinced to state that, the Naga reconciliation held at Agri- Expo 29th Feb.2012 Dimapur have been wrongly implicated and misquoted its significant by some leaders and certain public observers. It is pertinent to put the ring in the right place. The truth no matter how bitter or hard remains unchanged and shall be revealed when the right time come. The truth is that, Naga foundation is laid and stood steadfast in the past and stands unmoved today and it shall stands tomorrow. Our founders patriots in time past have sacrificed their dear lives at the cost of laying the Naga foundation and today the present generation is responsible to uphold, preserve and maintain the sanctity of its preciousness.  At all cost, we shall strive to put the inalienable rights and vision of the Nagas clear and undisturbed so as all can see the truth, and keep the Vision un-deviated. All that was spoken, said or written in any Naga meetings or in papers, should not be altogether accounted as the sole depiction of the Nagas stands or views. No matter what is said or who said what, We Nagas should keep one thing very clear.  We are not fighting or demanding for Naga integration as politically termed, we are persistently telling the Indian of our rights over our land and people. It is our right to restore our land once lost in the hands of Indian. It was not given to them that we should demand again. It was forcefully claimed, taken and subdued by their dominating opinion and forces. It is an open face to all the world, that, Nagas’ right have been suppressed and the very act is inhumane and direct violation of human Rights,

It is unfortunate to note here that some Naga leaders are murmuring, propagating and creating negative impressions, upon the Naga minds by stating that, Naga sovereignty is impossible, Naga integration is not possible. It is just like telling to oneself, I don’t believe my God. My God cannot do anything. Or we are giving rights for the Indian to overrule us or allowing them to rule over us. It is a surrendered termed. My dear countrymen let us not be disappointed by those negative statements. With God we can. Nothing is impossible. The Bible states, “With God, all things are possible” The truth itself sustains. Let us not be weary of our journey. Let us hold on to our faith. Faith in the struggle to restore our land once lost. Though we are apparently divided and seemingly fragmented by Indian policies and arbitrary boundaries. We shall not consent to it neither shall we subject to its implication. We are free people and we shall remain free. Let us say to ourselves together with the apostle Paul, “ I am not ashame of the gospel, it is the power of God for salvation” ln like manner, we Nagas should not be ashame to be called Naga Nation or call ourselves Nagas and stand for our right, it is the power to save our people. Our rights to be free is  universal truth. Gandhiji, the father of Indian  nation once stated, “ Nagas have every rights to be independent”

Reconciliation is not a political process but a realization of our wrongs and accepting the truth together through forgiveness, tolerance, love and mutual acceptance unconditionally. It is needful and gainful in the Naga political context but not the end of it. In fact it is our great beginning of understanding and coming together through Faith in the intervention of the divine on our cause. I appeal to all the Naga people not to take the Reconciliation move to be of factional interest, biased, advantage or weapon of advocacy to gain favour or support of the mass based Naga population. FNR is only an agent or a common platform to make Naga people come together for reconciliation. It is not a consultative platform or public Meeting but an alter for forgiveness, confession, repentance and mutual acceptance of our wrongs and our common rights to live by. The recent Naga Reconciliation was meant for public confession, declaration and adoption of its content in the presence and witness of the mass Naga public. Reconciliation is not a solution itself but a means to make the solution effective and meaningful. It is not compromising Naga national principle nor surrendering our National goal at the expense of losing our priceless Freedom and rights. Contextually, reconciliation is realization of the common Interest or goal and taking a journey toward the common vision oriented goal of the Nagas.

It is worth mentioning here for certain clarification about our Naga National interest and Indian states policies. Alternative arrangement proposed by UNC of Manipur state is not related to Naga National issue though the context is within the purview of the Naga inhabited areas. The Alternative arrangement is an approach to sever the ties with the Govt of Manipur expressing their long deprivation, grievances and their desire to be re- integrated with the rest of the Nagas’ land. It is a proposal for temporary arrangement seeking the intervention of the Centre for development upliftment of the Nagas down trodden people.  It has nothing to do with the common Naga National interest. Like Zeliangrong People convention for separate statehood late 1980s and the present ENPO’s demand for eastern Nagaland frontier statehood are similar issue of the Naga people within their family. Any arrangement for these local demands are not to taken as a solution or part of the Naga National settlement. The Nagas will not compromise their National goal and Principle with the petty demand or provisions that may be proposed by section of the Nagas or given to by Indian Govt.
