Longleng, November 19 (MExN): In connection with the Nagaland mega mock drill on earthquake and landslide scheduled on November 21, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng M Shayung Phom at DC’s Conference hall on November 19.


A DIPR report stated that the DC briefed the members present on the table talk exercise for the upcoming Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) on November 21 in Longleng along with the rest of the districts. He informed that the department found absent during the table talk exercise and mega mock drill will be reported to the Chief Secretary and therefore, directed all the departments to mandatorily participate in the NEPEx. 


The EAC Headquarter Robi Sangtam presented the overall Incident Response System and the role and responsibilities of the incident response team which comprises of every department. He recalled that mock drill conducted in the last two years was very successful and expect better this year with the active participation of the officials. The EAC also asserted that the main purpose of the NEPEx was to educate and generate awareness among the communities and different agencies on how to establish mechanism for effective response to any disaster. The goal of the NEPEx is to make Nagaland a safer and resilient society as Nagaland is considered vulnerable to many natural calamities, he added.   


The SP Longleng, ‘F’ Company Commander 44th AR, Longleng and ADC Longleng also spoke and shared their previous experience with the members. Booklets on Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) were also distributed to the members.
