Revoke cancellation notice, Doyang landowners demand

Wokha, April 30 (MExN): The Land Owners’ Union (LOU) Doyang Hydro-Electric Plant (DHEP) has written to the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCL) seeking immediate revocation of cancellation of works at the DHEP.

In its letter addressed to the NEEPCL Chief General Manager (Contracts and Procurement) on April 29, the LOU stated that the cancellation of “Construction of 2 Raw Water Reservoirs and another 2 Clear Water Reservoirs for Water Treatment Plant” at the DHEP was an act of “humiliation and clearly prevailed the truth of step motherly treatment to the Doyang Hydro-Electric Plant by the Corporation for decades.” Stating that the duty of the Union, as a stakeholder of the project, is to safeguard the interest of the land affected owners and welfare of the plant, it demanded that the NEEPCL immediately revoke the cancellation notice dated April 28 within 7 days, with effect from April 29. “Failing to comply with the demand, the LOU, DHEP shall not be held responsible whenever any untoward situations arise in the Doyang Hydro-Electric Plant, Doyang, Wokha,” it added.
