
Tseminyu, February 24 (MExN): The Rengma Hoho (RH) has expressed its appreciation to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio for “his continued contribution, financially towards Rengma Nagas in relief camps during the Rengma-Karbi conflicts.” It further lauded all Naga tribes, particularly the Pochury and the Chakesang communities for their contribution, in cash and kind, to the Rengma Nagas at relief camps in Assam. A press note from the President of the Rengma Hoho, Sawathang Kezseb informed that the CM and a high-level team met with the Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi at Circuit House, Jorhat on December 31, where he expressed serious concerns about the unrest in Karbi Anglong. The RH informed that Rio stressed on the need to bring understanding, peace and harmony to calm the situation and protect the lives of the Rengma Naga community in Assam. According to RH, Rio also urged the Assam CM to set up Village Guards in each village so that the villages can protect themselves as is the practice in Nagaland, with all expenses of the Village Guard, including salaries and allowances borne by Ministry of Home Affairs.
