Says that ‘important political issues’ have not been ignored
DIMAPUR, APRIL 9 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today stated that the “repeated immature statements” of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju is “creating a lot of confusion and thereby vitiating the environment of negotiation.”
A press note from the MIP of the NSCN (IM) stated that the Union Minister’s recent comments on April 8 was “unbecoming.” The Minister had said during a press conference in Guwahati that a “tangible” solution was at hand; that the territorial integrity of other states would not be affected; and that “the issue of sovereignty and some other serious issues” were dropped from the negotiations.
To this, the NSCN (IM) retorted: “It is demeaning of him to denigrate the Indo-Naga talk which is being held at the Prime Ministerial level. At no point of the negotiation have both the parties ignored important political issues, and the concocted statement of Rijiju that, NSCN has 'dropped' the stand of the Nagas on their sovereign right is a figment of his own imagination.”
“When the talk is progressing at the highest level,” the NSCN (IM) said that the Union Minister has “no business to talk on political issues of which he is ignorant.” “The signing of the Framework Agreement on 3rd August 2015 through the statesmanship of Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India and the NSCN leadership has laid the principles and foundation towards the final solution,” it reiterated.
It further observed that “at this crucial stage, giving out irresponsible statements in the media or otherwise by any individual or party that contravenes the spirit of the peace talk is uncalled for.” The NSCN (IM) advised the Union Minister to “restrain himself from such repetition in near future in the interest of both the parties.”
