
DIMAPUR, NOV 21 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio today said that the State Government is seriously pursuing its policy of promoting Naga musicians outside the State. Addressing a press conference at Nagaland House, New Delhi, Rio said that Music was being promoted as an Industry at the ongoing India International Trade Fare. He informed that a select group of Naga musicians and bands were being sponsored by the State Government to perform at various shows and events in the national capital. He told the media that the Government has set up the Special Task Force for Music to promote music and musicians under youth empowerment programmes.
The task force has tied up with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as its event manager for the Delhi programmes, Rio informed and added that another event is being planned in Mumbai, next year, in collaboration with the CII. Rio said that the musicians would be given the rare opportunity of performing to the captains of industry and the services sector in Delhi.
The members of the Special Task Force briefed the media on the details of the Naga musicians and the upcoming schedule. A Naga Music Festival is being held from today onwards at the Café Morrison in New Delhi’s upmarket area, South Extension. On 26th November, the task force would be hosting a special Naga evening at the Nagaland House lawns where representatives of the music industry and foreign missions are expected to attend. Additional Chief Secretary Lalthara, Principal Resident Commissioner, Anil Kumar and Resident Commissioner C. Ponsraj were also present during the Meet the Press.
