Rio disappointed at ‘provocative’ headline

Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): Neiphiu Rio today expressed disappointment at what he called “provocative” news headline published in one of the local newspapers, stating it has sent a wrong message to the people.

The news item concerned statement of the Rio-led NPF. In a press statement, Rio reaffirmed his personal and the NPF party’s stand as stated in the manifesto that the Government will provide transparency and accountability in its governance to deliver the goods to the people as they deserve. “I do not support corruption in any manner nor am I here to protect corruption and therefore, I would request the Chief Minister and the DAN Government to listen to the voice of the people and ensure that such problems do not plague the Government,” he asserted.

The excess appointments in various departments over the years and other government decisions and actions, the MP added, were in response to public pressure and demand. “Therefore, we have to put our heads together to arrest this problem which has landed us in a vicious circle.” He further expressed hope that good sense prevails and that all sections of the people and the government join hands to address these problems. Meanwhile, he requested the media to ensure that “wrong messages are not disseminated to the masses especially on issues that are sensitive in nature.”
