Dr Tiasunup addressing during review meeting held at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Kohima.
Kohima, October 31 (MExN): The Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) conducted a two-day training for the District TB Officers, MOs of DRTB Centres Khuzama and Mokokchung on the Technical Operational Guideline (TOG) or Programmatic Management of DRTB followed by its 3rd quarterly review meeting from October 24 to 26 at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Kohima.   Dr Palash Talukdar, NE WHO Consultant- RNTCP was the main resource person for the training. Over the last few years, it has been observed that the Programme is undergoing shifts in its approach to TB Control activities which is illustrated in the TOG document itself. Newer practices such as Daily Regime, Family DOTS, IT enabled Adherence mechanisms, latest diagnostic tools such as CBNAAT, Shorter Regime for DRTB, Bedaquiline, New Recording and Reporting tools through NIKSHAY form a part of the Programme. All these aspects were covered during the training.   During the review meeting, Dr Kevichusa Medikru, Mission Director (NHM), reminded the gathering that regardless of the good performance in the field, unless it is reported and reflected in NIKSHAY portal, it cannot be accounted for. He also stressed on the importance of Review meeting as a platform to air out issues and to learn from each other’s experience. Various districts presented their performances and achievements during the quarter. The overall state performance was delivered by Dr Palash Talukdar.   NIKSHAY is a web enabled application, which facilitates monitoring of TB patients on treatment at various levels and all other important activities under the programme. TB which is now a notifiable disease requires all Private establishments to register in the site and notify cases. This is the most important tool for monitoring purposes in the programme.   In this regard, the State Programme Officer RNTCP, Dr Tiasunup Pongener, requested all the districts to update all pending NIKSHAY entries by the end of the following month.   The review meeting was attended by all the Officers and Staff of the State TB Cell and the District TB Centres.   This was stated in a press release issued by Dr Tiasunup Pongner, State Programme Officer (RNTCP), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare.
