Pranab College, Dimapur Traffic Police hold seminar  

DIMAPUR, JULY 3 (MExN): The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Pranab College, in collaboration with Dimapur Traffic Police, organised a seminar on "Building a Culture of Road Safety Among Youth" at the college auditorium on July 3.

The seminar aimed to educate students on road safety and raise awareness about the dangers of rash driving, which has become a common concern in Dimapur district. The sessions covered topics including traffic signals, the Motor Vehicles Act, and the common causes of road accidents.

Addressing the seminar, ACP (Traffic) Zubenthung Ezung spoke on the common causes of road accidents and stressed the importance of safe driving practices. He also highlighted the need for motorists to observe proper road etiquette, particularly by giving way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, security vehicles, and police vehicles.

SI Bokato and SI Y Lipenthung Patton of Traffic Control, Dimapur, delivered presentations on traffic signals and the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, including offences and penalties.

The programme was chaired by Ulla Laureen Fernandez, Assistant Professor, Department of Education. The welcome address and introduction of the resource persons were delivered by Dr Sanjukta Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor, Department of English and IQAC Coordinator, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Alomi Cynthia Shikhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and IQAC Co-Coordinator.
