Rotary Club Kohima hosts organ donation awareness campaign

Kohima, February 20 (MExN): Rotary Club Kohima hosted Rtn. Bhal Sekhar Chilana along with his wife Namita from Rotary Club Navi Mumbai Sunrise, Dist-3142 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima on February 18. 

Media Cell, Kohima Rotary Club in a press release said that the couple is travelling for 131 days to visit 131 cities of 28 states and 8 UTs covering 22500Kms with a mission to reach masses for organ donation awareness campaign across India.

An awareness campaign programme for organ donation was also held along with the welcoming function. Bhal Shekhar Chilana who is also the president of ‘The Cause Travellers Social Welfare Organisation,’ said that this is ‘The Cause Travellers on a 131-day India road trip for the cause of Organ Donation’. 

He said that they are to travel through 28 states and 8 Union Territories of India conducting awareness programs for public communities, Rotary clubs, NGOs, hospitals, schools, colleges amongst others and holding these meetings in collaboration with Rotary International District 3142 & Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Sunrise and MOHAN Foundation with an aim to educate people in India about the need and importance of organ donation and encourage them to pledge to be a donor with a target of 80,000 pledges on their journey. They started their journey on December 10, 2021 from Kharghar Navi Mumbai and in 65 days they could visit 69 cities of 14 states and 2 union territories. 

Namita in her speech said that earlier in 2018 they had a similar mission for organ donation awareness across the globe. They travelled from Mumbai to London by car in 79 days coverings 21 countries.
