Rotary Club Kohima undertakes tree plantation
Rotary Club Kohima during tree plantation programme held in Kohima on August 31.
Kohima, August 31 (MExN): Rotary Club of Kohima carried out a tree plantation programme under the theme ‘Make Kohima Green’ on August 31.
Rotary Club Kohima president Rtn.Dr Neisatuo Mero said that the tree plantation is a part of Rotary year plan under community services and will continue to be done phase wise.
Charter President Rtn.Dr.Rosemary Dzuvichu spoke on the theme 'Make Kohima Green ' and urged on the need to make the capital green as a part of Rotary's contribution to protecting the environment.
She said climatic changes in Kohima is due to the lack of green coverage of trees and stressed on every citizen's responsibility to plant trees and make the difference.
The next project of partnering with colony youth and planting one tree, one house would bring a marked difference in climate the next 5 years.
The plantation started in the landslide area below Naga Hospital Authority Kohima and planted more than a hundred trees at the Naga Mothers Association (NMA) Cradle Ridge Centre, with the active involvement of the children at the Centre.
Each child planted the first trees with great excitement. The Rotarians spent a memorable day interacting with the children and had lunch with them.
The NMA Cradle Ridge Centre at Seithogei looks after orphaned positive children for many decades.
