RPF NFR recover ganja worth Rs 4.44 lakh

Maligaon, September 23 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recovered ganja worth Rs 4.44 lakh during the last week. 

RPF team of Lumding while conducting check against undesirable elements in train No. 03174 DN (Agartala – Sealdah special) at Lumding railway station recovered one unclaimed plastic bag inside the toilet of a coach on September 21. On checking the bag, two packets ganja weighing about 20 kgs were found. Later, the recovered Ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/Lumding. Value of the seized Ganja is Rs 2 lakh. RPF team of Alipurduar while escorting the train No. 04037 DN (Silchar-New Delhi special) from New Bongaigaon to New Jalpaiguri detected an unclaimed bag containing three packets ganja weighing about 4.500 kgs in a coach. Later, the recovered ganja was deposited at RPF Post, New Jalpaiguri. Value of the recovered Ganja is Rs 45,000. 

On September 19, RPF constable of RPF/Post/Silchar while coming from Dharmanagar by Train No 05663 UP (Agartala–Silchar special) found one person with bags in suspicious manner. On checking the bag, the constable found suspected 02 packets ganja weighing about 8 kgs valued Rs 80,000. The person who is a resident of Forbesganj (Bihar) was apprehended. Along with the recovered goods, he was handed over to OC/GRP/Silchar for necessary action. 

On September 18, RPF team of RPF/Post/Badarpur, while escorting Train No. 05626 UP (Deoghar Express Special), recovered 4 packets ganja weighing about 11.900 kgs lying under the berth of a sleeper coach at Badarpur railway station. Later, the recovered ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/Badarpur for disposal. Value of the recovered ganja is Rs 1.19 lakh.
