RPF of NFR recovers smuggled goods, rescues 47 minor children

Maligaon, November 4 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have recovered contraband items such as cannabis, drugs, whiskey and gold bar worth about Rs 68.95 lakh during October 9 to 27.
The contraband were recovered during regular checks and special drives at various stations and trains over NFR, a press release from Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer stated.          

                                                                                        
RPF also apprehended six persons involved in theft, four persons for trafficking contraband goods, three persons involved in touting activities, three human traffickers with rescue of three minor girls and one person involved in IPC offence at various stations and trains over NFR.


During the period, RPF also rescued 47 children at different stations. 


Various drives were also conducted against transportation of contraband goods through trains over NFR and recovered the contraband articles along with arrest of five persons.


On October 12, CIB and CPDS team of Katihar apprehended one person during checking and recovered 52 bottles whiskey worth Rs 10440. On October 19, RPF and CIB team of Guwahati jointly conducted checking at Kamrup Express, Guwahati Railway Station and recovered 32.8 kg cannabis and 305 gram morphine valued at Rs 23.64 lakh and arrested two persons.


On October 20, Dog Squad of RPF/Guwahati conducted checking in at DN Rajdhani Expresss, Guwahati Railway Station and recovered 52 kg cannabis worth about Rs 6 lakh. On October 25, CPDS team of RPF/Alipurduar and RPF of Fakiragram jointly conducted drive against anti-social elements in Alipurduar-Lumding Intercity from Chautara to Fakiragram Railway Station and apprehended one person with recovery of one piece gold bar weighing about 1.25 kg worth around Rs 3920800. During checking at Guwahati Railway Station on October 14, CIB team of RPF/Guwahati apprehended one person with recovery of two mobile phones. 


CIB team of RPF/Lumding during checking in BG Express between Lumding and Hojai on October 17, apprehended two persons who administered sedative drugs to a passenger for looting the belongings.
