RPP questions PDA govt over IAS officer issue

Dimapur, May 13 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) today questioned what it termed as the “deafening silence” of the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) Government of Nagaland surrounding the allegations against IAS officer Reny Wilfred.

According to the RPP, such action not only exposes “moral bankruptcy” but also the “rotten nexus” of shielding the bureaucrat, who is also an accused under POCSO.

The RPP stated that the IAS officer continues to strut “through the corridors of power” while common citizens face the full wrath of the law for petty crimes. It also alleged that Wilfred is still enjoying “state protection,” and instead of initiating disciplinary proceedings against him by way of suspension, the State Government has rewarded him.

Terming it as “criminal collusion” at the highest levels, the RPP also questioned why the initial complainant – the IDAN Chairman, and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio – remain “conspicuously mute” on the issue. It also alleged “complicity,” with the officer openly boasting about being approached to topple the government and trading charges against the Nagaland State Women’s Commission (NSWC).

Various women’s organisations and student bodies have demanded justice, but their pleas have been disregarded and this points to a conclusion that the State administration is being “held hostage” by the bureaucrat, the RPP further contended.

The RPP also questioned the “eerie silence” from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) over the issue.

Accordingly, the RPP cautioned the government not to “pursue vendetta politics” against any of the women complainants in IDAN through termination of jobs and transfers. The RPP will be watching the issue closely, it declared.
