Union Minister of Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari today informed that since 2018-19, a total of Rs 1053.31 Crore has been incurred for upgradation and improvement works of National Highways in Nagaland.
Reply to a question in the ongoing winter session of Parliament, the Union Minister also informed that since 2078-19, 3 works were sanctioned on NH 702; 6 works sanctioned on NH 702 A; and 1 work was sanctioned on NH 702 B. The total sanctioned cost for all the works was Rs 1751.75 Crore.
“Development, upgradation and improvement of National Highways (NHs) including that of NH-702, NH-702A and NH-702B in the State of Nagaland is a continuous process,” the Minister stated. He added that the highway starting from its junction with NH-702 at Longleng and terminating at its junction with NH-202 in Nagaland was declared as NH-702B on June 13, 2014.
He further stated that no expenditure has been made on NH-702B by the ministry since its declaration; however, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) sanctioned a work upgradation of this NH on August 5, 2019, which is in progress.
Meanwhile, the Minister also informed that since 2018-19, a total expenditure of Rs 61.81 Crore has been incurred for maintenance of 50 works sanctioned in 2 National Highways.
