The 75 years anniversary of Rengma Sports Association (RSA) cum civic reception of 1st Deputy Commissioner & 1st Superintendent of police, Tseminyu was held at RSS Ground, Tseminyu on January 10.
Er Zale Neikha, Advisor of Youth Resources & Sports was the special guest while, R Khing, Advisor of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development was the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Neikha congratulated the Rengma Sports Association for attaining 75 Years and also getting the Tseminyu district.
With this, he encouraged them to cooperate with Government of the day and extend unflinching support to any activities being undertaken for the district of Tseminyu.
Neikha also praised the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Advisor Khing and all other pioneers of Tseminyu District for attaining the long awaited dream of Rengma people.
The 75 years journey of Rengma Sports Association must have been challenging and overwhelming, he said adding “Nevertheless, the way in which this anniversary has been organized indicates that Rengma Sports Association is not only a mature sports organization but also a responsible and influential sports organization.”
Games and sports are no longer a hobby today but a professional occupation, he said adding “We have seen athletes, sportsmen and women whose life had transformed from the worst to best and from the best to better. We must reorient and restructure our narratives of moulding talented athletes and players.”
He also assured possible assistance for upliftment of youths in the field of games & sports. He encouraged the sportsperson to commit themselves to become the best in whichever discipline they play. Stating that Sports Academy at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima has been established as Khelo India State Centre of Excellence, he said “this will eventually benefit our youths and upgrade the sporting facilities of our state.”
Pollen Tep, President Rengma Hoho acknowledged the Naga peoples in general and all the legislatures for supporting the cause of Rengma in creating a separate district for the Rengma community. He assured to give full cooperation with district administration and superintendent of police towards developing Rengma district and peaceful environment in the district.
First Deputy Commissioner, Dr Zasekholie Chusi IAS while congratulating the Rengma community for getting the new district called upon the Rengma community to have full cooperation and support towards developing the new district into a best model district in the state.
He also assured to give his best in any developmental activities in the days to come. He requested all the 7 ranges to come and share their opinion and good ideas towards developing Tseminyu. In the process of developmental activities everyone should stand united and create a congenial atmosphere, he said.
First Superintendent of Police, Kanchan Kandpal Kumar IPS said that he will give his best to create Tseminyu a model district in the state. With this, he requested everyone to have cooperation in every atmosphere to develop the district as one of the best.
Shakelo Thong, Vice President, RSA delivered a welcome note. Presidential address was delivered by G. K Rengma, President, RSA. The formal programme was led by Benjamin Lorin, convenor organizing committee while Yhunchilo Khing and Mercy Kent compere the programme. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Sinyhunlo Tep, women coordinator, RSA.
The 75th sports meet of RSA will continue till January 20.
