Participants of the 6-day Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) held at SAMETI, Training Hall, Medziphema from April 26 to May 1.

Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): A 6-day Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) was held at SAMETI, Training Hall, Medziphema, on the topic ‘Poultry rearing and management’ from April 26 to May 1.
The training was organized by Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC), Medziphema in collaboration with the State Agricultural Management and Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema and National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. Altogether, 15 trainees attended the programme along with the officers and staff from IETC. Resource persons for the training were lecturers and officers from IETC and SAMETI.
The training programme focused on the importance of poultry rearing and management and various aspects for successful adoption by rural youth. The technical session covered various topics such as improved management aspects of poultry management, breeds of poultry, feed management and bio supplements, egg production of layers, disease management of poultry, marketing of birds, economics of poultry rearing, layout of different housing systems, vaccination schedules of poultry against major diseases, etc.
The moderator of the training was Kikatemjen Ozukum, SDAO, IETC while the key note address was given by Dr Watimongla Jamir, vice Principal IETC and vote of thanks was delivered by Seyievielo Sono, Lecturer, IETC.
Valedictory closing remarks and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Bendangmenla Tzudir, AI, IETC. Feedback was received from the trainees and the training ended with distribution of certificates.
