Mokokchung district launched the SAANS campaign at the conference hall, CMO office on November 18.
Mokokchung, November 18 (MExN): On the occasion of World Pneumonia Day, Mokokchung district launched the Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS). The event was held at the conference hall, office of the Chief Medical officer’s office on November 18. Speaking on the occasion Dr Kibangkumba CMO urged the participants to create awareness and to address pneumonia in children under five by ensuring early detection and intervention and also emphasized on the importance of making the church as another platform to reach out to the general community. He said pneumonia is a treatable and preventable disease but it is also the world’s largest infectious killer of children.
Resource person, Dr Imlisenba pediatrician IMDH, in his power point presentation highlighted the objectives of the SAANS initiative. He oriented the participants on the project, Prevent and treatment (PPT) .interventions to save children from pneumonia, communication strategy and plan, signs, goal of SAANS and treatment.
Dr Limanaro DPO (UIP&RCH) who chaired the programme said that the main objective of the campaign was to reduce child mortality due to pneumonia by creating awareness of pneumonia in the community.
