Sachin Pilot’s visit enthuse Nagaland Cong

Leader of Opposition, Tokheho and NPCC President Sungit Jamir escorts Minister of State for Communication & Information Technology, Sachin Pilot to a party meeting at Kohima on Saturday.

Kohima | September 17 : Minister of State for Communication & Information Technology Sachin Pilot has assured that “Tele communications will reach the remotest area in Nagaland within two years, be it landline or mobile”. He was speaking at the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee-organized meeting in honor of the Union Minister of State this morning at the Congress Bhavan in Kohima.
Reminiscing about the visit of his father earlier, Late Rajesh Pilot former politician and a Union Minister in the Government of India, Sachin Pilot said Nagas have shown tremendous affections to his late father. The same relation will be maintained ‘be it at personal or at party level’ and even for any NPCC visit to Delhi “you will have my fullest support.”
Through the support of the people in the streets, village, town and cities, Pilot said, the UPA government returned to power for consecutive terms. “In a democratic country, winning or losing is a process and getting power is a matter of time”, the minister said and urged all to continue to work for the people ‘be it in opposition or in the ruling.’ Pilot challenged the Congressmen to make the party ideologically stronger and be ‘simple and humble soldiers.’ He further urged them to support INC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in his efforts to development. Pilot assured that he will personally request Rahul Gandhi to visit the state.
President of the NPCC SI Jamir also addressed the party. He said the minister’s visit has enlivened the spirit of the party and has encouraged the members to devote more to their goals.
Jamir said Late Rajesh was a friend, philosopher and a guide for the Nagas. “Your visit reminds us of your father who has always been with us”, he said.  The very fact that Nagaland is in the minister’s ‘priority visit’, will be a part of maintaining the tradition, he said.
Further, in his welcome note MLA Joshuha said the visit of Pilot is a morale booster as the party workers has been going through hard times owing to successive failures. He expressed hope that the minister’s visit would ‘recapture the past glories of Nagaland.’  During an interactive session, Leader of Opposition Tokheho also highlighted issues that the Congress is concerned about. He referred to a Public Interest Litigation on the appointment of parliamentary secretaries.
The opposition leader said that under the 10th schedule Constitutional Amendment of Nagaland, under the present chief minister there are 13 parliamentary secretaries and four advisors who are functioning in the rank of ministers and the parliamentary secretaries enjoy the same facilities as the ministers. The facilities include salaries. Apparently even files are being handled by the parliamentary secretaries, it was informed.
Tokheho said the 10th schedule is being violated and so the Congress filed a PIL. Apart from the Communication & Information Technology department, Tokheho reminded of the common sentiment now that rampant corruptions are continuing in the government departments. He said the Education department under a minister in-charge has been found misusing funds under SSA and RMSA, for which the Congress party filed an RTI and has demanded a detailed report. The Congress has also demanded change of portfolio or even to drop the minister in-charge from the government
However, action has not been taken by the state government, as usual, so far. The opposition leader urged Pilot to ‘pay attention where corruption and irregularities are rampant.’ Former Chief Minister and Governor SC Jamir and a host of MLAs and party workers attended the meeting.
