Sainik school principal calls for Govt Inquiry

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 9 (MExN): Taken aback by the allegations leveled on him by the Zeliangrong Students Union (ZSU), the Principal of Sainik School, Punglwa, Col. B.S. Rathore has asked for a government inquiry to bring out the facts of the allegations. A press release from the headmaster of the school Lt. Col. C.K. Joyraj Singh for the principal stated that one contracted LDC, Chumpenthang Lotha, employed in the school, after drinks, had beaten up an employee on night patrolling duty at 2:00 on December 20, 2007. The principal claimed that as a result of this incident and fear of life due to regular threats, three employees left the school. On reporting to Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence, the principal was instructed to terminate the service of Lotha with immediate effect which was done on January 5, 2008 and the culprit left the school of January 7 which was followed immediately by “this new of character assassination” the very next day on the 8th.  The principal said that he and his staff had worked hard to start the school into the present shape and strictness was required to get results in such a short time. The principal expected a pat on his back, not such allegations tarnishing his image in the eyes of the people of Nagaland and the children of the school, it stated. Col. Rathore claims that the allegations are false and baseless and has asked for a government inquiry, adding that he is prepared to face any consequences if the allegations are proved.
