Dimapur: Sainik School Punglwa celebrated its 7th Annual Day on May 3. The function was graced by Brig DS Shishodia, Commander, 44 Mountain Brigade, as the chief guest. Old Boys Association (OBA) of Nagaland, dignitaries, parents and village elders joined the celebration. The cultural potpourri, presented by the cadets was the main attraction of the day, stated a press release received here.
The chief guest expressed his delight to be back in a Sainik School and expressed confidence that SSPN will soon produce great officers in the Defence Forces. He stated that Sainik School is the only school where friends of lifetime are made and assured the parents of the cadets that they have made the right decision in sending their children to Sainik School. The chief guest gave away the Best Sportsmanship Award to Cdt Tanthuilubo of Doyang House, Cultural Trophy to Saramati House & Tizu House, Academic Trophy to Saramati House and the Cock House Trophy for the year 2013-2014 to Patkai House.
The Officiating Principal Lt Col Sumeet Sharma, in his Annual Report asserted that the school is in its threshold of delivering what it owes to the society. He dwelt upon the efforts taken by the school administration to promote academic excellence such as the introduction of bronze, silver and gold torch for those cadets who excel in academics. He also mentioned that the school has taken initiative in conducting math capsule classes, orientation programme for the staff etc. He also remembered with gratitude the efforts taken by the OBA under the leadership of the Chief Minister Neiphieu Rio in raising the school.
