Sainik School Punglwa celebrates English Literary Week

Punglwa, July 19 (MExN): In order to bring cadets of the school closer to literature and its universal appeal and encouraging them to improve their range of communication skills in English language, Sainik School Punglwa organised English Literary Week from July 13 to 18.  

“The prime motive in organising this event was to create an understanding and importance of literary works,” stated a press release received here.  

As part of the event, various activities competitions such as calligraphy, essay writing, story writing, extempore speech and debate were conducted to hone the skills of writing and speaking. Cadets were fruitfully engaged in these competitions and showcased their literary talents in the language with appreciation and love for the language.  

The debate competition on the topic, ‘How important is value education in students’ life?’ marked the culmination of the English Literary Week wherein the Principal Gp Capt Sharad R Keskar attended the event as chief guest.  

He presented prizes and trophy to the winning cadets of different houses. Japfu House emerged as the champion of the competition whereas Tizu and Saramati House were adjudged the first runners up and second runners up respectively. The chief guest addressing the cadets after prize distribution ceremony spoke and emphasised on the importance of value education in students’ life and how important it is to “being human” then human being.
