Peren, October 3 (MExN): With an aim to spread awareness on cleanliness among the populace, cadets of Sainik School Punglwa along with the elders, youth and students of Punglwa B village carried out a social work on October 2. The day was also the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
A press release from the school stated that while the cadets on earlier occasions conducted several cleanliness campaigns in the surrounding villages, this was the first combined effort of the school and the villagers towards clean India since the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission in 2014.
The campaign which was spearheaded by Wg Cdr S Haralu (Retd) was a social endeavour not only to bring awareness on the importance of cleanliness but an occasion that brought better understanding and co-operation between the school and the inhabitants of Punglwa, the release added.
