Sakhi-One Stop Centre awareness programme culminates in Longleng

Longleng , September 3 (MExN): A five-day awareness programme on Sakhi-One Stop Centre(S-OSC) conducted by OSC Longleng for Longleng Block which started on August 30 culminated on September 3.

A DIPR report stated that the programme was organized for 9 villages namely: Bhumnyu, Dangkhao, Oushok, Hukphang, Lingtuk, Mongtikang, Pongching and Orangkong respectively.

 
Resource person C Henchem Phom, Centre Administrator (OSC), Longleng disseminated on the functioning of S-OSC, the various services available and how to avail them. She spoke on different types of assistance provided for the aggrieved women - legal aid, medical assistance, police assistance and counseling service at the centre. She also briefed the gathering about women helpline number 181 which is available 24x 7 for the welfare of women.  

Nyangyungsangla Phom, Counsellor (OSC) spoke on Protection of Women against Domestic Violence Act of 2005, she stated that the act was enacted to provide protection of women against different types of domestic violence’s faced by the women and she also enlightened the gatherings with various Legal rights of women.

The programme was attended by Church Board, Village Council, Village Level Organizations (VLOs) NRLM, Asha and  Anganwadi workers, host of Women Elders & Leaders from all the villages respectively.
