SAMETI conducts training on post harvest management

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 3 (MExN): The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organized a two days training program on ‘Post Harvest Management & Food Losses in Agri - Horti crops’ held from November 2 to 3. 

Resource Persons for the training Dr Moasosang Longkumer, Asst. Horticulture Specialist, Central Institute of  Horticulture (CIH) Medziphema; Dr N Kikon, Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy, NU, SAS Medziphema Campus; and Dr Pankaj Neog, Associate Professor, Department of Entomology, NU SAS Medziphema Campus  deliberated on the prospects, issues and challenges under horticulture post harvest sector in NEHR, factors affecting post harvest life of horticulture crops, post harvest management & food losses in field crops, storage pest management and handling and processing of king chilli pickle. The participants were taken for a field visit to the Central Institute of Horticulture, Medziphema and Pristine Foods, 7th Mile, Chumoukedima.

The valedictory program was chaired by Yezaho Swu, DPD, SAMETI while feedback on the training was given by all the participants. Certificates were distributed to the trainees by Dr Watimongla Jamir, Director, SAMETI and Principal, IETC. Janet Chishi, DPD, SAMETI pronounced the vote of thanks and concluded the valedictory program.
