SASRD NU Medziphema Campus has reported of a number of fires in the recent days.

Appeal to public and neighbouring villages to refrain from setting fire in surrounding area
Medziphema, March 25 (MExN): The School of Agricultural Sciences & Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus on Friday reported that the institute has been facing a number of fires in the recent days which have “severely affected the research activities of the School causing huge losses in terms of research work and trauma to the students and staff staying in the Campus.”
The occurrence of fire is on a regular basis, the authorities of SASRD NU stated while appealing to the public and to the neighbouring villages to refrain from setting fire in the surrounding area of the Campus.
According to the press release, on March 20 and 21, the fires set in the nearby area became uncontrollable and it fanned up towards the boy’s hostel. “On March 24, the raging fire almost set the girls hostel on fire and it was through the Grace of God that it rained and doused the fire. The ongoing examination due to be held on March 25 was also postponed because of the situation caused by the fire,” it stated.
The SASRD NU stated that during these fire incidents, Medziphema Civil Administration, Police department and Fire Brigade, Chümoukedima, Youth of Medziphema village, staff and students of SASRD have displayed prompt actions. “It is through the concerted and heroic efforts that the School has been saved from being engulfed in fire and SASRD conveys deep gratitude to all the concerned government departments and civil bodies for their timely assistance,” it conveyed.
Meanwhile, it is appealed to the public and neighbouring villages to take heed of the dangers posed by such fires and to take into consideration the adverse effects of such acts on human lives and the environment.
