
Kiphire, February 7 (MExN): The Sitimi Area Sangtam Students’ Union (SASSU) has withdrawn its previous letter to the Government of Nagaland, with regard to keeping the upgradation of Sitimi EAC headquarter to that of SDO (C) in “abeyance.”
In a press release on Monday, the SASSU stated that it had in 2017, submitted the letter to the Nagaland Commissioner “due to some unresolved social issues between the two communities.”
However, during a general meeting of the Union as part of its 25th Anniversary Celebration in December 2021, a thorough deliberation was made on the long pending issue and “the SASSU decided unanimously, to recall the letter submitted to the Government relating to the upgradation of EAC Sitimi HQ to SDO (C) so as to promote peace and harmony and to foster socio-economic development in the area.”
In this connection, the release stated that on February 5, 2022, the SASSU officially submitted its withdrawal letter to the Commissioner of Nagaland through the Kiphire Deputy Commissioner.
Further, the SASSU appealed to all the intellectuals, stakeholders, various organisations and citizens of both the communities of Sitimi area to come together as one to take area to newer heights. The SASSU looks forward to cooperate and collaborate with the government relating to any future developments in the area, the release stated.
