SASU claims to have ‘abolished’ proxy teachers in its jurisdiction

Tuensang, July 17 (MExN): Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) today stated it has “abolished” proxy teachers in every school under its jurisdiction.

In a press statement issued by President K Chumseli Anar and General Secretary Holise, the union lamented the irregularities and absence of teachers, which leave the students without quality education and proper guidance.

SASU further informed that it will be conducting surprise checking in all the schools under its jurisdiction at any time. It warned the erring teachers that failing to comply with the directive, the union will take “a stern action, including liable for termination of service if absent from duty for more than one month without leave or if found employing proxy teacher.”

The statement also cautioned that upon detection of such activities, SASU will report the matter to the higher authority, for which the union will not be held responsible.

“Quality education generates quality students,” SASU asserted, asking the government teachers who are unable to perform their duties to take voluntary retirement so as to give chance to thousand of aspiring unemployed youth who are waiting in queue for job opportunity.

Meanwhile, SASU demanded to the government for installation of fingerprint biometric devices and closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera to check irregularities of teachers.
