SASU takes initiative to clean Dzükou Valley

Kohima, September 12 (MExN): With an objective to keep Dzükou Valley clean and visitor friendly, the office of the Southern Angami Students Union (SASU) along with student volunteers from the 13 Southern Angami villages initiated its annual cleanliness drive at Dzükou Valley from September 8 to 10 with the theme ‘Viridescence’.

In view of preservation and conservation, around 25 members undertook a rigorous cleaning drive around the camps, rest places and pathways, the SASU office stated in a press release.

“As a student body, the union feels obligated to keep the site clean, visitor-friendly and keep sight of its sustenance,” it added.

With unprecedented number of trekkers and visitors coming to the valley year round, proper waste disposal has been arranged, the union informed, requesting the visitors and public in general to make proper use of the dustbins. The union also warned against any act that will tarnish the beauty of the valley such as plucking of flowers and cutting trees.
