Sazo lays foundation stone for YWWS building

Kohima, May 15 (MExN): Parliamentary secretary for social welfare & women development Chotisuh Sazo laid the Foundation Stone of Yoruba Women Welfare Society Building on May 14 at Yoruba Village Local Ground. He was accompanied by Sano Vamuzo, chairperson Nagaland Women Commission, Khevito, Additional Director Social Welfare, Daisy Mezhur, Secretary Nagaland State Social Welfare Advisory Board, hosts of government officials and party leaders.
Sazo lauded the initiatives of the Yoruba Women Society and assured them that he will be part and parcel of the Society to impact changes on the lives of its members and the villagers.
He expressed his deep appreciation for the commitment, dedication, and perseverance of women folk in executing any assigned duty. He encouraged the women to be torch bearers of any duty called for and be examples for others to follow.
Sazo said that God has bestowed unmatchable qualities to both women and men and procreation is the eminence of women. Man can assist women in raising up children, but the care and affection provided by women is unmatchable. He therefore encouraged women to be worthy mothers to all. He however lamented that many families in the urban areas are not having work life balance as they are engrossed in their professions eventually having delinquent children. Thus he called upon the women to be steadfast in raising up healthy, disciplined children who can later contribute to the growth of the society.
Besides, he said that Societies over the world are changing very fast and so is ours. We cannot afford to have the thinking of yesterday to live today. Our forefathers have a self sufficient economy not dependent on others and also with very limited needs. However, our society has gone a sea change over the years and we are living in an interdependent world where our needs are increasing daily. To live this life, we need enhanced incomes and need attitudinal changes in our way of farming. Thus he encouraged the gathering to be more enterprising and also go for commercial cropping which could fetch good returns considering easy access to neighboring townships and Kohima markets. Thus he encouraged the women to be agents of change.
The occasion was chaired by Mudimulu, chairperson Yoruba Women Welfare Society and welcome speech was extended by Sulunu VCC of Yoruba.
