Phek, July 27 (MExN): With the theme ‘Scaling greater heights’, Pfutsero Government College held its 36th Fresher’s Day on July 27 at the college auditorium.
Dr. Chotisuh Sazo, who was the guest speaker, gave a brief history on education of the Chakhesang tribe and spoke on the importance and role of education in the development of one’s nation. He encouraged the students to give their best in their studies and also develop and refine their skills, informed a press release from the college.
Agriculture being the main source of economy, he also advised the students to develop and focus on economic independence with improved and new technologies. Sazo further highlighted the importance of Naga culture and encouraged the students to respect elders, be honest and sincere and preserve the rich culture and traditions of our fore parents. Citing preparation, hard work and confidence as vital to success, he told the students to believe in themselves, refine their worldview, and translate their dreams into action and reality.
At the event, the college alumni association awarded its first Alumni Award to the best student to Dane Dukru of Political Science department, who scored the highest in the subject with 6.16 CGPA. Meanwhile, Kethozo Nakro was adjudged Mr Fresher and Prewe-ü Letro as Miss Fresher with Kezuvehu Khamo and Chope-ü as runners up.
