SCERT Nagaland, Kohima along with the NIF India and DST, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi organised the State Level Exhibition and Project Competition (SLEPC) -cum mentorship workshop on May 28.

KOHIMA, JUNE 2 (MExN): Braving inclement weather, the SCERT Nagaland, Kohima along with the NIF India and DST, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi organised the State Level Exhibition and Project Competition (SLEPC) -cum mentorship workshop on May 28. This was followed by orientation on Inspire Manak Awards for 64 GHS and GHSS teachers from Mon, Peren, Chümoukedima, Dimapur and Niuland districts, a press release stated.
The programme was organised at the EBRC Kuda, Dimapur. Jury and mentors for the day include Dr M Prakash Asst Prof & Head EEE, NIT Nagaland; Dr Th Jackson Singh, Asst Prof & Head ME, NIT Nagaland; Dr Shambhu Kumar Mahanto, Asst Prof ME, NIT Nagaland; James Sema, Senior Lecturer DIET, Dimapur.
Four students were shortlisted to participate in the National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC) at New Delhi while six students were shortlisted for SLEPC.
The students selected to represent Nagaland State in the NLEPC Competition 2024 at New Delhi are Zarenthung Odyuo from Christian Hr Sec School, Dimapur, Likivi M Sumi from Holy Cross Hr Sec School, Dimapur, Farhadul Islam Talukdar from JNV Kiphire and Temjenyanger from Jubilee Memorial School, Mokokchung.
The programme was sponsored by State Council of Educational Research and Training, Nagaland, Kohima(SCERT) and NIF India: DST, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi.
The program was divided into different sessions- exhibition (SLEPC) & mentoring, teachers’ orientation on Inspire Awards Manak and visit to NIT lab Dimapur. Mentors interacted with each student participant individually and their innovations were critically evaluated and given inputs. This was followed by orientation for the teachers with a presentation on Inspire Awards Manak by Leshiphro Kashena.
A total of 64 teachers from different schools of Dimapur, Mon, Peren, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts attended the orientation/training program.
Later, the student awardees along with the guide teachers were taken to workshops of Mechanical Engineering Dept & Electrical Engineering Dept of NIT Dimapur for exposure to technological design and manufacturing processes. Here their mentors clarified the doubts of the awardees and boosted their confidence to embark on their journey towards science and technology, the press release said.
