Peren, March 16 (MExN): The All India Coordinated Research Project on Honey Bees and Pollinators {AICRP (HB&P)}, Department of Entomology, SASRD, NU, Medziphema conducted scientific training on Apis cerana and stingless bees inclusive of practical handling and management technique for the beekeepers of Beisumpuikam village under Peren district on March 15.

The training, sponsored under NEH component by AICRP on honeybees and pollinators, ICAR, New Delhi, will further conduct follow-up sessions on March 18 and 21, stated a press release received here. 

Apart from practical demonstrations, Dr Avinash Chauhan, Scientist cum Training Coordinator and Ngukho, Bee Professional, both from AICRP (HB&P) elaborated on stingless bees and its important role as pollinators, Honey quality, scientific management of Apis cerana and stingless bees, scientific bee boxes and implements, etc. 

Altogether, 66 beekeepers and farmers along with NAFED staff participated in the training held at Beisumpuikam Village Community Hall. Scientific bee boxes were also distributed to all participants. 

The special guest Haihingbe Pame, Head GB, delivered the inaugural speech and beekeepers shared their experiences from the training.
