Scouts and Guides honoured with Rashtrapati Award and Rajya Puraskar

Kohima, September 16 (DIPR): The Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG) award ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan on September 16. The Governor who is also the Chief Patron (NSBSG) felicitated Rashtrapati Awardees for the 2015-2016, and gave away Rajya Puraskar 2017 certificates.  

The Governor, in his speech mentioned he was happy that this movement was playing an active and important role in shaping the character of the youth in Nagaland. “Scouts & Guides contribute for strengthening communal harmony, brotherhood, secularism so that the state marches ahead on the path of progress and prosperity in peaceful manner,” he stated. It is a very efficient voluntary movement in nature that has purposefully engaged in building of an enlightened and progressive society.  

Following schools were awarded the Rajya Puraskar 2017 certificates: Vidya Bhavan school Dimapur (10 guides & 4 scouts), Highland hall school Dimapur (4guides), Assisi school (12 guides & 3 scouts), Naga united Govt. High school (4guides),good Shepherd higher secondary Kiphire (3 guides), Loyola Higher secondary Kiphire (3 guides & 1 scouts),El-Beth High school Kiphire (1 scout),Government higher secondary school (1 scout),Eastern Academy school Dimapur(4 scouts), Mezhur higher secondary school (4 guides & 3 scouts), Chandmari Higher Secondary school (5 guides), Coraggio School Kohima (1 scout),Little flower higher secondary school (6 guides), Baptist high school Kohima (6 guides). 16 scouts & guides were received the Rashtrapati Awardees for the year 2015-2016.  

State Chief Commissioner NSBSG Atou Mezur highlighted on the rigorous training the Scouts and Guides go through to receive the various awards. Principle Director School Education and Vice President NSBSG, Smita Sarangi (IAS) chaired the programme, and State Organising Commissioner (Guide) & NSBSG, Vimezhonu Tetso compared the programme.  

Special song was presented by Mezhur Higher Secondary School Kohima and Joint Director School Education & State Secretary extended vote of thanks NSBSG Chubanungla.
