Selena Gomez scored favourite female singer at the 27th annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which aired live Saturday from the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles. The curly-haired 21-year-old accepted the honor in a yellow-trimmed kimono top and matching shorts which featured a b&w painting. The slime-covered ceremony kicked off with a chaotic swirl of twirling aerial acrobats, a drumline drill band, dancers, and a Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball parody. Teen idols Cody Simpson and Austin Mahone rapped from the audience before a confident Mark Wahlberg strutted onstage vowing: ‘Everybody’s getting slimed but me. I’m just unslimable.’ However, Wahlberg’s own children conspired against him near the end of the show, which led to him being literally showered with slime for several minutes. The stage’s 360-degree arena featured a screaming mosh pit of neon-clad kids at the edge of ‘the slime zone’ where a 20,000-gallon gooey river and waterfall flowed.
