Philimi Students’ Union annual session begins

The 49th Annual Session of Philimi Students’ Union (PSU) began at Philimi village, Atoizu range under Zunheboto district with ‘Self Evaluation to cope with the Changing World’ as the theme.
During the introductory session on Monday evening, President, Atoizu Range Students’ Union, Aketovi Assumi exhorted the students on the motto of PSU – ‘Brighten every Corner.’ Stating that it was the responsibility of students to bring light to dark phases in the society, he questioned, “Are we living by example in brightening the corners as per our motto?”
Aketovi pointed out that the parents in villages have been doing their duty of working hard in the field to educate the children and asked whether the students have been doing their part in the academic field. “Do not depend on your parents for your livelihood. They have toiled hard to educate you and now it is your time to pay back,” he exhorted.
During the programme, a prepared speech competition was held on topics including, ‘Clean Election,’ ‘Tobacco Free Zone,’ ‘Importance of Education in our village,’ and ‘Avenues of Sustainable Economic Development.’ The competition was held within the units of PSU.
