Kohima | May 28 : A three day long Master Trainer’s seminar on Adolescent Education Programme (AEP) concluded on May 27 at Nagaland College of Teacher Education, with Commissioner & Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Menukhol John, as the guest of honour.
Addressing the valedictory function, Menukhol John, who is also chairman of the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) asserted that HIV/AIDS is a serious concern for all citizens that is threatening the society. On the other hand, he acknowledged the NGOs and all the concerned individual for creating various awareness programme, thereby HIV/AIDS rate in state had tremendously come down.
He also called upon the parents to have kitchen discussion with children in positive way in order to prevent the disease in the family. He said that kitchen discussion will send a strong impact, adding that HIV/AIDS subject will be included very soon in the school syllabus.
The three days long seminar witnessed discussion on exploring life-skill & understanding adolescence, Physiological changes & Mental and emotional changes, Gender and Gender roles & Adolescence and sexuality, Addressing common Myths and Misconceptions, Fact sheets on Abstinence, Basic fact Sexuality Transmitted Infection related to STI, HIV and AIDS, Understanding substance Abuse the problem & the challenge, Substance abuse and its relationship to other high risk behavior, HIV and AIDS basic fact and modes of transmission & Prevention, The best strategy to fight against HIV/AIDS, Teenage pregnancy and its consequences, etc.
The training programme was organized by NSACS in collaboration with NBSE & NCTE.
