Seminar on energy conservation held in Wokha

Wokha, September 7 (MExN): The ‘Village Initiatives through Energy Efficient Retrofits’ today conducted a seminar on energy conservation and power saving organised by State Designated Agency (NSDA) under Electrical Inspectorate, Nagaland at Lotha Baptist Ekhümkho Sanrhyütsü (LBES) Mission Centre, Vankhosüng.  

Speaking at the programme, Er. I.V. Chishi, Chief Electrical Inspector, informed that energy is now decreasing to such a point that a time may come when mankind may see non availability of energy as a reality because the sources of non renewable energy sources are now being used to the maximum.  

To avoid shortage of energy for ourselves and the future generation, conservation of both renewable and non renewable sources of energy is the urgent need of the day, he said while adding that one should use power sensibly.  

Cautioning that CFL Bulbs which is likely to be phased out or replaced by LED bulbs, Chishi said in the near future the bulb should be buried once it is damaged instead of discarding it in the open air due to health hazard it poses by emitting mercury.  

Earlier, Renbonthung Jami, Deputy Secretary, Education department also highlighted about the villages and areas under Wokha district the department has reached with its programme.  

After the seminar, Practical demonstration on comparative consumption of power by Incandescent bulbs and LED bulbs was also conducted. Electrical materials for lighting homes and street were also given free of cost to the staff and residents of the Mission Centre, Vankhosung. Executive Secretary, LBES, Rev. Nyanchumo Ezung thanked the Electrical Directorate for including the LBES Mission Centre under the department's programme.
