Seminar on women development held at Phek Village

Dimapur, April 9 (MExN): Under the aegis of the Phek Village Mothers’ Association (PVMA), a one day seminar on Women Development was held for the womenfolk of Phek Village and its neighbouring villages today here at Phek Village Community Hall. Zaposhelu Venuh, President, Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) was the resource person of the day long seminar.

Addressing the mammoth gathering of womenfolk, Venuh stated that Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) was formed in the year 1984 with an objective of protecting and safeguarding the rights of the womenfolk in the society, where, curbing of immoral activities being practiced by the womenfolk were aimed as its priority. Social evils, illegal possession of abusive substances were some among others in forming the Association as such Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) was subsequently formed in the year 1986.

It’s high time for the womenfolk to voice out that gender equality is being enforced world wide. Thereby the status of women were never inferior to that of men, stated Venuh and further urged the womenfolk to be sincere, dedicative in their pursue so as to fulfil the dreams and aspiration of the society and in the meantime be in the forefront of the NMA ideology as was enshrined in its Constitution.

Lauding the efforts of the PVMA for implementing the ban on intoxicated substances during the election and which is continued till date, Venuh added that the excellent trend of the PVMA is exemplary to other Associations. On behalf of the CMA, she also extended its solidarity to the PVMA, and to lead a long life.

Ex-President CMA, Nuvosalu Chizo, and President Phek Area Mothers’ Association (PAMA) Besevolu Venuh were among others who exhort the gathering as special guests. Earlier, PVMA President, Vekhozolu Soho, led the formal function where, Duvozolu Soho, President, Phek Area Baptist Church Council, Women Department invoked God’s blessing for the smooth proceeding of the function. The day was enlightened with a special presentation by Samaritan Group, and Kepfutsa women group respectively. A word of gratitude was proposed by PVMA Vice President Nukuvolu Lohe.

Meanwhile, the Association expressed its gratitude to Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu Minister for Roads & Bridges and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Nagaland for sponsoring the seminar where successful culmination was viewed upon as one of its first kind.
