‘Due to old age… I should not be so selfish to cling to a particular post,’ wrote Jami
Dimapur, July 22 (MExN): Senior Naga national leader, AZ Jami, has resigned from the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM).
“Pursuant to my earlier requests before the authorities concerned of the NSCN in writing as well as verbally for resignation since some years back, I resign from the primary and active membership of the NSCN on personal reasons from the date the resignation letter is published in local news papers,” stated the Senior Kilonser of the NSCN-IM in a public resignation letter.
He acknowledged that he is “one of the very few surviving senior most Naga Freedom Fighters. But due to old age coupled with old age ailments I think I should not be so selfish to cling to a particular post.”
Stating these to be the circumstances for being compelled to resign after 63 years in Naga National Service, the elder leader said, “During the entire length of my humble service for the Naga nation I worked with zeal and passion and sometimes I have been over zealous. As such, during my long services for the Naga Nation I might have commissions and omissions, and hurting and offending many persons by my words and deeds. For all these I deeply apologise to those who have been hurt and offended by my words and deeds.”
Jami remained “fully satisfied” for the contribution he has made for the “cause of the Naga nation and the Naga people” by “sacrificing the well being of my parents during my young age and pitifully sacrificing the opportunities and well being of my spouse and children during my manhood.”
He vowed that in the future, “if I live and if my health permits, if I am called upon by the nation to perform any work for the Naga nation it will be my bounden duty and my obligation as a citizen to respond positively to the call of the Nation.”
