Sensitization programme on child rights and POCSO Act

TENNING, JULY 26 (MExN): The District Child Protection Unit, Peren, in collaboration with the Nagaland development outreach organized a one day sensitization programme on child rights and protection of children from sexual offence (POCSO) Act 2012 on July 21 at Tenning Town.  

A press note from the DCPO Peren informed that the programme was aimed to enlighten the unreached rural community about child rights and child protection through this sensitization programme.  

Avika Zhimomi, DCPO, Peren highlighted the structure of the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) and the roles and functions of Village Level Child Protection Committee (VLCPC). He further stated that every individual in society should be responsible in protecting child rights.  

The resource person of the programme was Asungbe, Legal cum Probation Officer, Peren, who spoke regarding the Juvenile Justice Act and protection of children from sexual offences POCSO Act 2012.  

The programme was attended by Nagaland development outreach members, SJPU, Village Councils, Village Level Child Protection Committee (VLCPC), student organizations, Church leaders, NGO’S and Anganwadi workers.
