DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): The second batch of sensitization workshop for School Teachers’ on Tobacco Control Laws was organized on April 6 by the District Health Society, District Tobacco Control Cell, Dimapur at the Bookmark Conference hall.
Fr. Joe, Chairman of PNF in his keynote address urged teachers to take care in guiding adolescent children. Commenting on the rampant use of tobacco products by adolescents, he added that teachers have a vital role in guiding and molding the youth. He, however, lamented that though tobacco is a very harmful product, “it is socially accepted thus posing a bigger challenge in controlling tobacco.”
Dr. Ritu Thurr, Dy. CMO and District Nodal Officer (DTCC) oriented the participants on the harmful effects of tobacco use and Tobacco Control laws. He urged the teachers and the school authorities to join hands with the department in implementing the Tobacco Control Laws in the district.
36 Teachers from both government and private schools attended the sensitization workshop.
